Our school nurtures each child’s emotional, social and academic development. A strong sense of community exists among the school management, parents and staff. There is a high level of parental invovlement in activities such as reading, knitting and sewing, art and craft, running of the school library, computer skills, chess, educational outings and sports events. A happy, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere is the hallmark of Scoil Íde.
Scoil Íde is located in a quiet cul-de-sac where the seashore, the Aquarium, Salthill Park and woodland areas and Eileen’s local shop provide a wonderful outdoor classroom. The school’s proximity to Galway City enables the children to visit the Museum, the library, art exhibitions, live theatre shows in the Town Hall and Black Box, book week events in Dubray, Baboro Children’s Art Festival and the Teddy Bear Hospital at NUIG.
Scoil Íde has been awarded a ‘Digital Schools of Distinction Award’, an Active School Flag and six Green Flags to date! Scoil Íde has also won a Science Foundation Ireland Discover Science and Maths Plaque of STEM excellence for the 2015/2016 & 2016/2017 academic years. 5th class pupils in Scoil Íde participate in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme.
