Active Schools Week

We had lots of physical activity here in Scoil Ide on the first day of National Active Schools Week! Junior infants, senior infants and first class developed the skill of walking on their buddy walk. All classes completed the daily mile challenge. The girls in fourth, fifth and sixth classes were coached in rugby by Corinthians Rugby Club while 2nd and 3rd classes went swimming! Some classes engaged in movement breaks at 10am and on yard children were actively involved in playing playworks games. Senior infants are learning to strike with an implement. Today we developed this through the game of hockey. Here are some pictures of activities throughout the day!

3rd Class Visit the Aquarium

Third class had a wonderful day out visiting the aquarium in Salthill where they learned lots about all types of fish and sea life. They especially loved feeding the fish and getting to touch the starfish, ray and the spider crab.

That’s A Wrap!

Well done to the 5th and 6th Class girls who participated in the recording of the Christmas music video of a Winter’s Tale in aid of Rosabel’s Rooms which took place on Sunday in the Augustinian Church. We can’t wait to see the video!

Christmas Sleepover for 1st Class

1st class children enjoyed a magical evening snuggled up with their cuddly toys under the twinkling Christmas lights of the classroom. The air was filled with the delicious aroma of hot chocolate, marshmallows and baked treats while Christmas stories and songs were relished by the pyjama clad children. It’s beginning to feel alot like Christmas !!
