Seachtain na Gaeilge 2015

Bhí muid an-ghnóthach i Scoil Íde i mbliana do Sheachtain na Gaeilge 2015.  Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge ar siúl ón 1 go dtí an 17 Márta.  Chuireamar frásaí Gaeilge in airde ar bhallaí na scoile.  B’fhéidir go bhfaca tú iad?  Rinneamar sár-iarracht na frásaí a fhoghlaim agus iad a insint dár múinteoirí ag súil go bhfaigheadh muid cárta glas.

We were very busy in Scoil Íde this year during Seachtain na Gaeilge 2015 (Irish Week).  Seachtain na Gaeilge ran from the 1st to the 17th of March.  We hung lots of Irish phrases on the walls around the school halls.  Maybe you noticed them?  We made a huge effort to learn the Irish phrases and tell our teachers what they were in the hope of perhaps getting a ‘cárta glas’ .

Ar an Aoine, an 6ú Márta, tháinig an scoil ar fad le chéile sa halla ag a 12:00i.n. agus chanamar amhrán Sheachtain na Gaeilge, ‘Is Leatsa Í’.  Bhí scoileanna ar fud na tíre á chanadh ag an am céanna.  Is amhrán álainn é agus tá sé le cloisteáil ar shuíomh idirlín www.snag.ie.

On Friday, the 6th March, the whole school came together in the hall at 12:00p.m. to sing the song of Seachtain na Gaeilge, ‘Is Leatsa Í’.   Schools all over the country were singing the song at the same time on that day.  It’s a beautiful song and you can hear it on the website www.snag.ie.

Tráth na gCeist Boird:

Maidin Dé Luain, an 9ú Márta, bhí Tráth na gCeist Boird againn sa halla.   Bhí scoláirí ó Rang a 3 go dtí Rang a 6 páirteach ann.  Bhí 5 bhabhta ceisteanna agus babhta amháin pictiúr.  Tá grianghrafanna de na buaiteoirí le feiceáil thíos.

On Monday morning, the 9th of March, we had a table quiz in the hall.  Students from 3rd to 6th class took part in the quiz.  There were 5 rounds of questions and 1 picture round.  The winners are pictured below.

Ceolchoirm agus Céilí Mór:

Chríochnaíomar ceiliúradh Sheachtain na Gaeilge ar an lá roimh Lá ‘le Pádraig.  Bhí ceolchoirm álainn sa halla againn.   Tháinig na Naíonáin Shóisearacha isteach ag máirseáil agus ag ceol agus ansin rinne gach rang píosa siamsaíochta os comhair na scoile ar fad.  Chanamar amhráin, dúramar rannta, sheinneamar na feadóga agus bhíomar ag damhsa.  Bhí an-spórt agus spraoi againn.  Ina dhiaidh sin, bhí an Céilí Mór againn.  Rinneamar an Staicín Eorna, Ballaí Luimnigh agus Ionsaí na hInse.   Sheasamar ar fad ar deireadh le ‘Amhrán na bhFiann’ a chanadh le chéile.

We finished the celebrations of Seachtain na Gaeilge on the day before St. Patrick’s Day.  We had a lovely concert in the hall. The two Junior Infant classes began the proceedings by marching into the hall singing their St. Patrick’s Day song.  Every class then did their own party piece for the other classes.  We sang Irish songs, recited  Irish poems and rhymes, we played tunes on the tin whistles and we did some Irish dancing.  We had great fun.  Then we had the Big Céilí.  We danced the Stack of Barley, the Walls of Limerick and the Siege of Ennis.  We all stood at the end of the Céilí to sing ‘Amhrán na bhFiann’ together.
